The Nova innovation has recently announced that Electric cars in Shetland can now be powered by tidal energy, this became possible after the creation of the first-ever electric vehicle (EV) charge point where drivers can fill up directly from a tidal energy source.
This novel technology is located on the shores of Bluemull sound, at Cullivoe harbor on the island of Yell in Shetland. For more than five years, submerged turbines have been powering the homes and businesses in shetland.
speaking about the technology the CEO of Nova Innovation said
Our technology generates electricity from the immense power of the seas, and it is changing the way we power our lives – from how we make a cup of tea to how we travel,
We now have the reality of tidal powered cars, which demonstrates the huge steps forward we are making in tackling the climate emergency and achieving net zero by working in harmony with our natural environmentSimon Forrest, CEO of Nova Innovation
Many countries of the world are eagerly pushing forward to a net zero emission, combustion engines account for around a fifth of all carbon emissions in the UK. will African countries like Nigeria adopt the use of electric vehicles? what about other African countries?
the Nova project is gearing towards the net zero goal.
