AR Glasses and our Future

AR Glasses

AR glasses is a fast-growing and amazing tech gadget in the market, have you tried using one lately? what was your experience like?

so what is AR? AR stands for Augmented reality, sounds like a Junior brother to Virtual Reality (VR).

Augmented reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory

Don’t let that definition throw you off your feet, let me explain, AR is a technology that enhances our physical world, by adding sound, graphics, videos, and other digital layers to our environment.

You may wonder what is the difference between AR and VR.

VR creates an entirely artificial environment while AR augments the physical environment.

AR allows you to interact with both the digital/artificial layers and your natural layers at the same time, whereas VR does not. instead, VR creates and makes you interact with just the artificial layer in a 3-dimensional space.

there are four types of AR today, they include:

  • markerless AR
  • marker-based AR
  • projection-based AR
  • superimposition-based AR

we are more interested in the AR glasses.

AR Glasses, what are they?

AR glasses or smart glasses are wearable computer glasses that add information (video, sound, graphics, etc.) alongside or to what the wearer sees.

AR glasses are glasses which enables the wearer to alter his vision and optical properties at will

For example, you could see and control the screen of your mobile phone from your glasses, you could watch a movie, open an app, play amazing games, receive calls and do a lot of cool stuffs via your eyeglasses.

AR glasses can be controlled through speech, tapping and slidding. making it easier to use and control.

the ease of use and control eliminates the need for a keyboard or mouse. since you can directly communicate with verbally.

Smart Glasses and the Future

AR seems to be leapfrogging VR, this is because come person prefer alternating between the physical world and the virtual world , rather than being total submerged in the artificial world.

hence the demand for AR glasses and other AR based product will only continue to sky rocket.

The global Augmented Reality Market size is projected to reach USD 3664.5 Million by 2026, from USD 849 Million in 2019, at a CAGR of 27.6% during 2020-2026. The use of AR technology in the gaming industry will increase the growth of the AR market size during the forecast period

AR mobile applications are constantly increasing, and more are expected to come in the future, numerous AR focused start ups are springing up.

AR glasses, are now being used by medical personnel, such usage allows them to be better healthcare givers, engineers use it to access information about design and data base necessary to complete a project, it could be used in homes and offices for video calls. during rescue operations it is use to transmit real time data. just to mention but a few.

A car is a great tool, but when a drunk drives, the car becomes a weapon of life destruction

this takes us to the energy/tech challenge of the mouth

Energy/tech challenge

what do you think could be the down side of this tech?

what could be the downside of this tech? what impact will it have on society? do you think everything about the AR glasses will be cool all through?.
